"And let us consider how to stir one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meeting together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near."  Hebrews 10: 24-25 (ESV)

See information below from Pastor Burnock regarding the resuming of Sunday Morning Worship on May 31st, 2020.

Dear Church Family,

As you probably know by now, we will be allowed to resume church services and meetings on May 30th.  This means of course that we will be holding our first Morning Worship service on Sunday, May 31st at 10:30 AM.  Nursery care will be provided.  There will be no Sunday School until September.

As I’m sure you expect, there will be some significant changes when you arrive.  We will do our best to reduce the amount of inconveniences you encounter, but obviously this will not be all that easy.  Our goal will be to follow the safety guidelines offered by the state as closely as possible.  We want to keep everyone as safe as possible.   Our Christian love and patience will need to be on full display.  Below, I will simply list what you need to know.

1.            Upon arriving to the church building you will be required to use the front door of the sanctuary.  There you will be greeted by someone who will make sure you are wearing a mask or face covering (if you forgot yours, we will have spares on hand), and who will also be responsible to count how many people are entering the building.  Please do not be offended if you are asked if you are feeling well…it may be part of the necessary protocol given to us by the Governor.

2.            Upon entering the sanctuary, you will find that the pews and the chairs in the balcony are marked with a small square of blue tape indicating that you may sit there.  We are allowed to have a maximum of 71 people in the sanctuary, and in order to maximize our capacity, it will be necessary for you to choose a properly marked place to sit.  If you have come to worship without another household member, you must sit a minimum of 6 feet from another person (indicated by the blue tape).  If you have come with people living in the same household, you may sit together, again making sure you are at least 6 feet away from others who do not live in your household.  (Isn’t this fun?)  Below is a diagram of how the blue tape has been placed on the pews.

Chairs are marked according to social distancing rules.                                        Balcony

3.            Also, upon entering the Sanctuary, please be sure to pick up a bulletin from the designated table in the Foyer, as all music and Bible readings will be included.  For safety reasons, all hymnals and Bibles have been removed from the Sanctuary.  Feel free to bring your own personal Bible to use during the service.

4.            During the service, it will be necessary for you to keep your face covering on at all times.  This is not so much for your protection but for the safety of others.  At the conclusion of the service, please take everything that is yours with you.  If you bring a pillow or a cushion (I know those pews can be tough!you must take them home with you.  If you leave anything behind, for sanitary reasons,  it will be thrown away.

5.            If you are enrolled in the Christian Foundations Program, you can pick up your chapters on a table just inside the Library.  New directories will also be found there if you don’t already have yours.  If you have decided for safety reasons not to come on Sundays, we will continue to mail/email the material to you.

6.            Aside from the Sanctuary, bathrooms and Library, please refrain from going into any other part of the building so that it will not need to be cleaned and disinfected.

7.            You will find hand sanitizer in several locations for your use.

8.            There will be no coffee hour until further notice.

9.            Bible studies, prayer meetings, choir and board meetings may all resume so long as social distancing requirements are met.  Please check Sunday’s bulletin for dates and times.

10.          Our celebration of the Lord’s Supper will resume on the 1st Sunday of August with pre-packaged juice and wafers…more details on that later.

11.          Finally, let me again say what I’ve shared with you in the past.  The corporate worship of God our King and our Savior is a gift of inestimable blessing and should be one of the highest priorities that we have in life.  Having said that, Covid-19 can be a deadly disease for those who are older or who have risky underlying health conditions.  I hope the day comes soon when we can all be together for worship and fellowship without concern for our health…but if you are uncomfortable returning to the flock in person…please know that whatever decision you make will be respected.  What you choose to do is between you and the Lord and if staying home for a time is what you deem to be best, then we’ll just need to find ways to fellowship by way of the phone or some other type of technology.

For those who are able to be here, I’m so looking forward to seeing you on the 31stIf you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to call.

With much love.
